2020 PGA of Northern Ontario Awards

President Jeff Mancini is pleased to announce the 2020 NOPGA award winners.

The 2020 Moe Norman NOPGA Apprentice Professional of the year is Mr. Jari Sundholm.

“It has been awhile since we have been able to recognize an award winner in the North and we thank Jari for his continued support, participation and efforts in promoting the sport of golf around the Greater Sudbury area. Jari’s application now gets passed onto the National Office and will be in the running for the National Apprentice Professional of the year.”

Also announced was the 2020 NOPGA Player of the Year, with the award going to  George Lacko.

Mancini states “George has been an elite competitor in our Northern events year in and year out and now can add NOPGA Senior Champion to his list of Titles.”

Thank you to all Zone Professionals for your continued participation during a very interesting 2020 golf season.

Nick Cundari awarded 2020 PGA of Northern Ontario Scholarship

The 2020 PGA of Northern Ontario Scholarship recipient is Nick Cundari of North Bay.

Cundari is the Son of PGA of Northern Ontario Member Glenn Cundari.  President Jeff Mancini notes that “Nick is worthy recipient” for 2020.

Nick will be extending his golf career by attending the University of Ottawa in the Fall as a member of their men’s golf team.

Congratulations to Nick and the entire Cundari family on your acomplishments on and off the golf course.

Lacko wins 2020 PGA of Northern Ontario Championship

George Lacko of Sudbury fired a two round total of 147 (74-73) to capture the 2020 PGA of Northern Ontario Championship played at Stone Ridge at Elliot Lake.

Finishing in a tie for second were mulitple PGA of Ontario Senior Champion Ian Doig of Tangle Creek and Tom Clark of Timberwolf with a +4 total of 148.

Lacko, in addition to being crowned as Overall Champion, was also declared the Senior Champion and Low Northern Professional.  The Low Assistant Professional of the tournament was Jari Sundholm of Sudbury at 156 (+12).
